Calma e gesso e fate spazio tra i vostri dischi: il 2 dicembre 2022 esce The 7’’ Single Box, il cofanetto definitivo che raccoglie tutti i brani di Paul McCartney, curato personalmente dall’ex Beatles.
La box
Dopo McCartney III, l’album solista uscito nel 2020, Sir Mecca decide di celebrare la sua lunga carriera con un regalo per i suoi fan e per i collezionisti. Si tratta di un prezioso cofanetto in legno che contiene be ottanta 45 giri per un totale di 163 canzoni, di cui 15 inediti, che abbracciano tutta la carriera da solista di McCartney.
Il cofanetto è stato progettato e assemblato nel Regno Unito e prodotto in una serie limitatissima di 3000 copie. Oltre ai vinili la box contiene un libro di 148 pagine, un saggio firmato dal giornalista Rob Sheffield e varie note legate alle registrazioni, oltre che informazioni riguardo i vari singoli come date di uscita e posizioni in classifica.
Esiste anche un video dimostrativo in cui Paul McCartney mostra nel dettaglio le caratteristiche della box.
I brani
Il monumentale cofanetto accompagna l’ascoltatore in un viaggio completo nella carriera del cantautore britannico attraverso le sue esibizioni dal vivo, i lati B, e i brani mai pubblicati.
Il viaggio comincia con Another Day del 1971 fino a Women and Wives, uscita nel 2022 in occasione del Record Store Day.
La raccolta contiene inoltre altri due brani recenti: Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey e Too Many People.
Tra gli 80 inediti, 65 vengono presentati con l’artwork originale restaurato, così come le rispettive B-side.
Tutti i brani sono stati rimasterizzati ed incisi nel leggendari studi londinesi Abbey Road Studios.

Il successo è stato immediato. Prima ancora dell’uscita, sul sito ufficiale di Paul McCartney la box risulta già sold out, con un prezzo lievitato oltre i $ 600.
